Project Participation

The Investing in Volunteers Project was designed to build the capacity of six community & voluntary sector groups in the 2.11 Brandywell/Fountain area to recruit, manage and support volunteers.

A steering group was formed between Triax, Bogside and Brandywell Initiative and new Fountain Community Structure to enrol appropriate community-based organisations that already had experience of volunteering and were aware of the problems/issues involved in volunteer engagement.

The project brought together members of the above groups, recruited from both sides of the interface area, in neutral venues to work on issues of common concern. This provided a safe space where participants met, listened, communicated and explored diversity while also developing capacity and organisational learning about volunteering.
